A Change Of Attack - Fratton Faithful

A Change Of Attack

Last updated : 07 March 2013 By Jim Bonner

Pompey's attacking options are going to be much different for Bury's visit to Fratton Park on Saturday.

James Keene's loan spell has ended and he has returned to Elfsborg and Adam Reed has opted to return to Sunderland early due to his lack of first-team football at Pompey.

Reed seemed to split the opinion of the Portsmouth fans. Some thought he added some creativity to the side and an extra dimension but personally, I thought his showings have been largely average due to mediocre crossing ability and losing the ball too often.

Patrick Agyemang may well have played his last game for Pompey, too.

Stevenage chairman has demanded a loan fee of £10,000 to be paid to the club on top of his salary. The striker wants to stay with Pompey and negotiations are continuing after his loan spell officially ended today.

Time will tell if he will be available to play on Saturday but it would be a huge blow to lose the man who was outstanding against Crewe and has arguably been Pompey's best performer since his arrival simply because he can hold the ball up and is physically built for this league's style of football.

With Keene and Reed gone, Agyemang possibly going and David Connolly an injury doubt for the Bury match Guy Whittingham has decided to promote 18-year-old Jack Maloney from the academy.

The winger made his debut at Plymouth for the League Cup first round match back in August but has been one of the top performers in the youth team since and may make an appearance on Saturday.
