10,000 Season Tickets Sold

Pompey have announced that a whopping 10,000 season tickets have been sold for the upcoming League Two season.

That number is far more than the 7,250 sold for last season and I believe the biggest total sold since the 2009/2010 season when over 11,000 were sold for Pompey's final year in the Premier League.

The early bird period for buying season tickets ended yesterday so it's unlikely that the number will increase by many before the campaign begins, but many clubs in League Two won't even pull in matchday attendances of 5,000 let alone 10,000.

As far as matchday attendances go for Pompey, we shouldn't expect much difference from last season. It's not unreasonable to suggest that the extra people (myself included) who bought season tickets this season were regulars at Fratton Park last season.

The new sense of positivity around the club and knowing where your money was going was undoubtedly a huge factor in securing the extra season ticket sales this summer but should Pompey have a good season who is to say that there won't be 12,000 season ticket holders at the turn of the new year?
