1919-1920: Returned to peace-time routine. Win Southern Division 1920-1921: Div. 1 at last. New manager is John McCartney.
1921-1922: PFC 3rd from top in Division 3.
1922-1923: William Haines "Farmers Boy" joins club.
1923-1924: Champions of Div. 3. "Farmers Boy" scores 28.
1925-1926: President of Football League, John McKenna, opens the new South Stand. It is 360 feet long. Cost £20,000.
1926-1927: Opening match v Saints attracts 27,896. Win 3-1.
1927-1928: The South of England has its first ever First Division club.
1928-1929: PFC lose 10-0 at Leicester, a record defeat that stands to this day. To compound the misery, Pompey travel to Wembley to face Bolton in the FA Cup Final, but lose 2-0.
