1960-1961: Relegated to Division Three on 33 pts.
1961-1962: With George Smith at the helm, Pompey bounce back to become Division Three champions.
1963-1964: Centre forward Ron Saunders scores 33 goals.
1964-1965: Jimmy Dickinson awarded MBE. Avoid relegation at Northampton, a 1-1 draw on Dickinson's 40th birthday. Dickinson then retires from playing. He is still Pompey's longest serving player.
1965-1966: The squad stands at only 16 players. The reserve and youth teams have been axed because of lack of funds, and also because of George Smith's opinion on young talent that, "there is nothing around Portsmouth except fish".
1967-1968: Mike Trebilcock joined during season to help promotion to 1st Division but, finish 5th.
1969-1970: Bad year with failures in the FA Cup & League Cup.
